AIMS AND GOALS
The objectives of this Project:
1.
To
fund a permanent dental clinic At Clinic P.A.S. Becora ,Dilli.Staffed by
a permanently employed Timorese dental nurse. The clinic is to provide
dental services to Timorese people at no cost.
2.
To
build the capacity of dentistry in Timor by providing ongoing support to
the Becora clinic , and by assisting in any way possible the other
dental personelle located in Timor.
To promote good oral health by fostering dental health education .
To Provide regular Trips to Timor of Australian Dental Personelle As
well as providing logistical and intellectual support in Dilli.these
trips enable the visiting of outlying regions otherwise not serviced by
dentists.
INTRODUCTION
This
LETDP trip is the 15th such trip undertaken by Australian
dentists to work with the clinic.
It has
been unfortunate that the civil unrest has caused the cancellation of
the two subsequent visits to Timor in 2006. It is hoped that the
scheduled visit in March 2007 will proceed uneventfully.
Unlike many other projects LETDP has a permanent prescence in Dili and
it is noteworthy that during the most serious times of unrest in
September our Dental Nurse attended to patients at the refugee camp in
Dilli when he was unable to make the journey to the PAS Clinic.
